Autopilot in Europe

Today we came across this video of a Tesla driver’s Autopilot experience.

We asked the driver to rate his experience and here were the ratings:

 Ease of Use: 4.5
Safety: 4.5
Reliability: 3.5
Recommendation: 4.5
Overall: 4.5

Followed by this summary:

"Autopilot always need attention but it's definitely safe and makes the trip easier especially on highway while traffic jam! You should always use the autopilot wisely it takes 2-3 weeks to get really used to it and feeling comfortable with it. And unfortunately here in Europe it's only using 2/5 of capability. "

For those of you not located in Europe, in order to comply with the UN/ECE R79 regulation, Tesla needed to dial back Autopilot capabilities for its European vehicles. The differences mainly impact the steering wheel and lane changes. One difference is that the steering wheel is limited in how far it can turn on Autopilot. Also, any lane change must start within 5 seconds of any turn signal being initiated. Many of these appear to be subtle differences but it is interesting to hear from someone utilizing the European version of Autopilot.
