Lyft gets $25,000,000 and a fleet of cars from Jaguar

With increasing frequency, companies are pairing up to go after the driverless car market. Today it was announced that Jaguar Land Rover, through its mobility services subsidiary InMotion, invested $25 million in Lyft. It’s also providing Lyft drivers with a fleet of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles as part of the partnership, and it’s also going to work with the ride-hailing tech company on autonomous vehicle testing.

Lyft has been teaming up with numerous companies recently, including Waymo and, more recently, Nutonomy. Today Jaguar Land Rover is also joining the company’s Open Platform for autonomous cars. The collaboration with InMotion will see the Jaguar Land Rover-owned company “develop and test its mobility services, including autonomous vehicles” using Lyft’s platform.
